Choo-Choo Choose You

Long time no blog. I left the blog quietly after the loss of my sweet Labrador. I had to start focusing on other things as life became stressful and difficult during that time. I got back to work shooting South Carolina Baseball. My saving grace. I added a new pup to the family. There was a fun trip to Disney World to break that up in April. I ended the regular season working in Nashville. BEST TRIP EVER! I saw our team fall short of their goals and not get out of their home Regional. That was the longest day of work, and it was so heartbreaking. I celebrated my Birthday, dealt with a very personal loss, celebrated more Birthdays, and had many a beach trip. I'm currently covering fall baseball for the Gamecocks, and local youth sports. And that is a very short summary of the last 8 months. Wow, 8 months...where does time go.

So in my comeback here is a chameleon of a color China Glaze's Choo-Choo Choose You. It has a murky blue base and the color shifts from bronze to pink to greenish gold. It's difficult to describe, but I tried my best to capture it in photos.

White Cap

So back in 2011 I bought China Glaze's White Cap from the Anchor's Away Collection. I remember it being quite a big deal then. Funny thing is I never wore it. I have no clue why. I went through my stash to find it the other night because I wanted something clean and pretty to wear that I wouldn't have to worry so much about.
I used one coat of White Cap over one coat of OPI's Don't Touch My Tutu! and that was it. White cap is a white jelly like polish with a gold flash, and flake like shimmer. Clean, simple, and pretty.

Orly Frisky: My Memorial Day Mani

Today I'm showing you my Memorial Day manicure. I used Orly's Frisky. I was initially just going to leave it at that. Then I added and accent nail with China Glaze Love Marilyn.

Frisky is a bright turquoise blue. It photographs a bit lighter than it is in my opinion. Beautiful color.

Memorial Day 2013

Today is a day to give thanks to those who have served and continue to do so. Thank you for protecting our freedom. Happy Memorial Day!

My Grandpa a Navy Gunner on the Essex in WWII.

My husband got a new propane tank and we grilled out for the first time this year! I was super excited. We ate well and relaxed with the pups. It was a nice day.

Orly Frisky. Accent Nail: China Glaze Love Marilyn

Posing with her toy that we found again. She was happy it still squeaked!

It looks like we were about to play leap frog!

Time to play fetch!

First grillin' of the season!

I love crispy hot dogs!

The finished meal.

I adore my little family. ♥

Happy Memorial Day from our family to yours!

Neon, Neon

I wrote that title and then that song by John Mayer titled Neon on his Room for Squares album popped into my head. I remember singing that song in my car when I was in high school. Oh my I'm old. Haha.

Anyway, I've tried out 2 jelly neon polishes from China Glaze's Sunsational Collection. Shell-o and Heat Index. Shell-o is super bright coral jelly, and Heat Index is a hot pink jelly. I absolutely love jelly polishes. I will say these were rather sheer but I built up adequate opacity in 3 coats. I think I may have to buy back up bottles of these! (Neon's tend to freak out cameras so they are brighter in person.)

My pups got in on the act. Heat Index.

China Glaze Cyberspace

I decided to pick up one more polish from the Tronica Collection. Cyberspace was really calling my name. I thought it could be close to my lemming All Hail McQueen.

Cyberspace is a taupe holo with a hint of gray. I used 2 semi-thick coats to get full coverage. I had to be careful though so there weren't noticeable brush strokes.

No sun here today so I took the pictures indoors beside the window. Maybe when the sun is out I will get some better shots of it, but that could be a few days

Now on to the pictures! (Don't forget to make them bigger so you can see the holo. The small picture distorts the image a bit.)

Well, that's all I've got. Thanks for reading.

China Glaze Hologram

Last night I went to Sally's and finally saw the Tronica Collection by China Glaze. I ended up getting Hologram and 3D Fantasy. I'm wearing 3D Fantasy on my toes right now. The holo is insanely subtle which makes me sad. This afternoon I put Hologram on my tips and it's a lot more lively looking on the nail than it is in the bottle.
I can certainly agree with most about the Tronica's not being the best holo's. The OMG and Kaleidoscope Collections blow these out of the water obviously. However I like them. You can never have enough holo in my opinion. Haha.

The only thing that drove me crazy about Hologram was this it took 3 coats to make everything even. It dries quickly though.

Ok on to the pictures. (Click to make them bigger so you can see the holo.)

Haha and a bonus picture. My dogs had to check things out.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading!

My Winter Wonderland!

It happened. It finally happened. It snowed on Christmas for the first time in my life. How amazing, and beautiful. I hope everyone had a joyous day. It was nice, and of course the snow that came made it perfect.

Today I played in the snow with my dogs and Dad while everyone else stayed in. I took tons of pictures on my new DSLR. It was fun, cold and fun!

So here is my Christmas manicure. Plan and simple Ruby Deer by China Glaze. Nice in two coats. Had some balding from my top coat, but it was no biggie. The last 3 photos are the most true to life.

Now on to some snow pictures.

Jumping to catch snow in her mouth. Gosh she's so cute!

So there are a few pictures. I wish I could add them all. So many cute ones that's for sure!

Let's Party Hearty!

Umm corny title...

Haha. I've got a Christmas party going on, on my nails. I decided to use Frosty and Party Hearty and do a cute manicure. (If you follow me on Twitter I posted a quick picture of it.) Similar to what most people have seen I'm sure. I really love it though. I'm not sure if it will last all the way to Christmas, but we'll see.
I used 2 coats of Frosty and 2 coats of Party Hearty on top of that. I noticed I had a bit of tip shrinkage obviously happened when I put on my top coat. No biggie though.
I really like how Frosty applies. Great formula. And of course Party Hearty was pretty easy to apply. I really like the 2 sizes of hexagon glitter paired with the smaller square glitter.
Now on to the pictures.

Pretty stuff. Hehe.

I can't believe it's almost Christmas. We just got our tree up today. I hope everyone is enjoying the Holidays!

Thanks for stopping by.

Mrs. Claus, Sparkles.

I cut my nails shorter again, and I was ready for something festive so I pulled out Mrs. Claus from the China Glaze China Glaze 'Tis The Season To Be Naughty And Nice Holiday Collection. When I put it on it made me instantly happy. I loved the pink sparkle.
My Mom and my Neurologist commented on how festive and sparkly my nails were. Win!
This polish is great in my humble opinion.  It's a pink jelly with pink and silver glitter. I had an easy time with application. I used 2 coats over 2 coats of Nail Tek Foundation then Poshe top coat. It did chip once on my index finger because I snagged it on something in the a store. I fixed it though. Haha.
I photographed my nails yesterday but the lighting just wasn't right. So I braved the cold this morning and got some good shots. My dog thought I was crazy I think.
On to the pretty sparkle:

Haha there's part of my doggie in the background.

(Quick health update: My neurologist thinks I have Fibromyalgia. I'll be having an MRI and some other tests done soon to make sure other thinks are ok. Saying a prayer for wellness and good outcomes.)

Mummy May I

I picked up one polish from the China Glaze Awakening Collection. Mummy May I. There was just something about it. Deep purple glitter goodness. I was excited.
Although this color is a beauty it gave me heck with application. It was very thick and gloopy. I used two coats and it dried to a satin like finish and it was very bumpy. I used Orly Polishield as a top coat. It gave it some shine, but the finish was as still uneven. Ugh. Aside from application I do really adore the color. Vampy and fall like. I think I'll put some thinner in it next time I use it to see if it will ease the application issues.

Now peep the pictures.

Had to add this in since my darling girl was in the background.

P.S. We will never forget. God Bless America.
